Personality: A protective big sister to Miaka but also the one who constantly teased and bullied her.

Family: Father, mother, brother and a younger sister

Background: For years, her sole desire was to become empress. Even the fact that the emperor is in love with Miaka did not bother her. After torturing Miaka over and over again, he then discovered that Tamahome is the one who Miaka really love. Now, he worked even harder trying to get the two of them together in the hopes that Hotohori will change his mind.

His relationship with other characters

Hotohori: Throughout the series Nuriko is enamored by Hotohori. Despite Nuriko's feelings and his attempts to flirt, hint, fawn, etc., Hotohori seems quite clueless. Due to their proximity and possibly because Nuriko had been at the palace as a court princess for a year before, they share some kind of closeness. Perhaps their mutual isolation draws them together somehow... it os also quite interesting that Hotohori had married a girl that looks exactly like Nuriko after Nuriko's tragic death...<sob!>

Tamahome: *smile* Things don't exactly start off well with Nuriko and Tamahome. There are worse things than having a beautiful court princess kiss you for no reason, but things might be a little *interesting* if you find out that she's a he. Yet these two develop such a good friendship. Tamahome brings out the motherly/protective side of Nuriko. He likes to take care of people, and Tamahome more often than not needs taking care of. Fortunately Tamahome recognizes and appreciates this, and their friendship is one of the closer ones in the series.

Tasuki: For some reason, these two become close over the course of the series. Nuriko simply enjoys keeping Tasuki in line, but they obviously enjoy each other's company as well. They both are excellent conspirators, so they go well together in that respect . Maybe they just have a lot in common personality-wise and so are drawn to each other...but I can't put into words just now what those similarities are *sweatdrops*.

Miaka: Ah...Miaka. Nuriko's views on Miaka change quite a bit during the series. =p First seen only as an obstacle in gaining Hori-sama's affection, Nuriko comes to terms with his duties as a Suzaku seishi, and becomes close friends with his miko. Miaka brings out a protective side of Nuriko, much like Tamahome. But note, this is a more *protective* than *motherly* side to Nuriko (read: more masculine). He can hear Tamahome out, whereas with Miaka sometimes he has to *hold* her. (And it's so sweet when he does!) Understandably, he's terribly fond of her, really loves her in his own way. As he even admitted before he died that as a man he does love her...<<sob again!>>
